"... [This] is a celebration volume. It celebrates, firstly, the foundation of the Welsh Legal History Society. Cymdeithas Hanes Cyfraith, Cymru, and it does so by publishing the first collection of its proceedings. Six of the eight papers contained in the volume are based on lectures delivered to the Society by members at the three meetings held during the first fifteenth months of the Society's existence. These include the Society's inaugural lecture at Cardiff in May 1999 given by professor David Ibbetson, the text of which has also been published in the transactions of the Honorable Society of Cymmrodorion for the year 2000. Also included are the papers given by Dr. Christopher McNall, the Venerable Anthony Crockett and Mr. Richard Ireland at the National Library of Wales in November of the same year..." - Preface
